latest project

I started the thread catcher or as the pattern calls it Tidy Tote yesterday. I completed it today.
I machine embroidered the design and then sewed it together. The pattern is one a friend gave
me a short time ago. It was a 1981 one. I had mentioned looking at directions on the internet to
make one. I liked this one best.

Shopping for retreat

Yesterday ,one of my friends accompanied me to Raleigh to do some door prize shopping and to check out possible hotel sites for our Guild's Fall Retreat. We found terrific door prizes at JoAnn's, Hancock Fabrics, Carolina Sew N Vac, Wish Upon A Quilt, and Bernina World of Sewing. I wish I could show you some of the items we got, but some retreaters may be readers ( and it's a secret!!) It wonderful spending money that is not mine...but I would love to win every item. If we do "dirty" door prize...I know some will be fought over. We found a wonderful place to cater the Saturday & Sunday lunches ( that's a secret also). All the secrets will come out later. Tomorrow or Tuesday, I hope to finalize the place we will be staying & that all comes down to the cost of the conference room. We found a beautiful place ( if the price is right!!) Now I just have to make each door prize look "Pretty" . I think I may be going to Michael"s this afternoon to find packaging supplies ( boxes, bags, & ribbons)

Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt Block

Birds in the Air is my latest block. I had to redo one of the sections.
I was ready to sew the sections together and saw I had 2 of the
triangles using the wrong side of the fabric...DUH!!

Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt block

Today was the annual "Corn Day" at our house!! It is usually 3 days because we do 30-35 dozen ears of corn....Yep!! we're hogs!!!  This year we decided to do only 12 dozen as we have eaten less at home and still have some in the freezer. I did get to make one square...it's callled Cup & Saucer. If you want to see all the others, checkout the slideshow at the bottom of my blog.

"Between Charming Friends" QuiltAlong

Kelly at Charming Chatter is having a quilt along. It is open to everyone. This is the 2nd week. The first week was to select fabric and this week cut. My fabric choices are above. The charm packs are from Connecting Threads...I had to add a few squares to have the needed  number, but I had some 1930's fabrics. the white is a white on white. The pink dots are for the backing. I am adding a button on the right to link to the Charming Chatter blog (hopefully).

labels

Last Guild meeting, one of our members talked about labeling quilts. She told what should be on them, etc.
These are the first ones I have tried to make. They do not have all the info she said was needed. As I learn more about the stitche I can do , then I will be able to add more info on future labels. I also need to experiment with interfacing weight to us on the back. My embroidery machine does not like thin material when doing small letters.

10 min. block quilt

FINALLY!!! I am about back to normal...the chest congestion is improving and so is my energy level. I finished the 10 Minute Block Quilt today. I had made all the blocks earlier but decided to make it larger. It is big! I have to pick out the backing...which I think will either be red & white or red, black & white...probably polka dots..I love polka dots.
