Do you know what this is???? It's the tool from H---!! We are going to take the tub out of one bathroom and have a walkin shower added. I decided that I would like the walls painted. The wallpaper is supposed to be strippable, but it is not. I have to use the scorer ( I call it a claw) to punch little holes in the paper. Next, a special spray is sprayed on and wait 15 minutes and it is SUPPOSED to peel off in large pieces. NOT!!! I think spit would work as well. I have one strip the width of wallpaper down...it only took 2 hours!!! I was hoping to get a wall done...boo hoo!!
Oh my! Please come cry on my shoulder!! I taken down wallpaper and it's horrible, awful and it makes you say bad words!! I didn't use that scorer thing - and I'm glad I didn't as I think it would may the paper peel off in smaller chunks. And it didn't peel off in big size chunks at all! We used knives and putty knives and ended up ruining the walls - which we had to re-do because of the wallpaper didn't go away. And besides the paper being hard work. We were stuck in a little bathroom for several day - all cramped up and hot! So awful!!! Keep at it - you can do it!!
ReplyDeleteWalt and I went through that 2 years ago in the kitchen. After trying everything you did, I resorted to using LOTS of steam from steam iron, holding it about 1 inch from the wall and giving it a good blast. It was tedious but went a lot faster.

ReplyDeleteI feel for you! I bought a cheap garment steamer and that helped a lot. There was still gunk on the wall, though.

ReplyDeleteHow is it going? I share your pain! We bought the special spray, then a steamer. Using the scorer and spraying on water worked the best. Don't know how one is supposed to treat the walls initially to make the wallpaper strip-able. We ended up having to have a sheetrock guy put a skim coat on the walls to even out the mess! Wallpaper shall never touch my walls again!!!
