10 Minutes Block Quilt
The hardest part of the quilt, so far, has been selecting fabrics I wanted to use...mostly from my stash.I would have liked to had one more of the dark and another of the whites.
The red section is attached by the 2 seams but not at its outer edges. It took me a few minutes the first block to see what the technique was...then it was easy. The pattern suggested to either sew along the outer edges of the square or to fold in (as a cathedral quilt block does) and stitch
. I like the curved edge.
Today , I learned I have several PhDs. That is not saying that I am REAL smart... it says I have several Project Half Done!! I have started cutting out blocks for a quilt that is called '10 Minute' Blocks Quilt. It will be mostly black and white with some red for accent. I hope to add a picture of a block later and let you know if it really is 10 Minute!!
I have been busy planning the Guild's Fall Retreat. I contacted several motels in the area where we want to be located. There are many questions you have to ask; size of meeting room, meals available, costs of rooms, food, meeting room, etc. I got 3 proposal back. One was definitely too expensive but it would have been a very nice place to be. Meeting with the committee soon and we will choose between the two others.
I hope to get two more of the Farmer's Wife Sampler completed also.

Problems
I have sewed this section 3 times. It does not want to turn out correctly. The pieces match the templates. Time to do a little rethinking here.... I'll show the results when I get it done correctly. I did spend some enjoyable minutes looking at the patterns I bought Wednesday...and picking out some fabric for one. It says it is very easy. Let's hope so.

Checking Out Quilt Shops
Today I went to Raleigh area to check out motels and quilt fabric shops for my local quilt guild's fall retreat.
I visited 3 very nice shops. The workers were so helpful and friendly. All the shops had plenty of beautiful fabric, patterns, notions and completed samples. I was inspired...I bought several patterns and rulers...and even a newly released Christmas panel!! Gotta get busy sewing!!! The shops were the Carolin Sew-N-Vac Plus, Bernina World of Sewing and Wish Upon A Quilt. They all have websites. I know I'll be visiting all 3 again.

Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt
The Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt
Today, I am beginning a new project....The Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt. It consists of 110 (6 inch) blocks. In 1922,The Farmer's Wife magazine held a contest asking, "Do You Want Your Daughter To Marry A Farmer?" This book contains 68 winning letters. It is enjoyable reading.
I have not set a deadline for myself. I will be using my stash to make the blocks.

Quilts for Kids
New Addition to Blog
I finally learned how to make a slideshow and add it to my blog. I went through several trial and error attempts. I could make the slideshow...it was the adding it on the blog that I had trouble with. Now it seems easy...It that the way it is when you "learn" something!! Now if I could only learn to type!!

New Project
After being on the go for 2 days ( to Greenville) to go to my Favorite places...The Olive Garden I love the lasanga & breadsticks!!, Hancock Fabrics, AC Moore..like I don't have enough crafting items!! and Kohl's and (to Wilson) Parkers ..for BBQ, Three Sisters Quiltworks and Wal-Mart ..it still has fabric; I finally got to work on the kit I received from Downy for the Quilts for Kids. It was precut and included everything but the batting. It was a very simple pattern (included) and is so cute. A pic will be added when it is quilted.
